We take a quantitative approach to contingent labor. We work in healthcare staffing.

Staffing firms run on data that was never designed to be measured. Most of what a firm knows about its own operation is maintained by hand: statuses set from memory, conversations that never become structure, orders retyped out of a VMS, decisions about who to call made from intuition. Each of those is a compressed guess, and the operating picture is assembled from them.

The problems worth solving sit downstream of that. Which candidates to work, which orders are fillable, which clinician fits which assignment, what a firm should believe about its own conversion rate. These are estimation problems, and the industry has been treating them as workflow problems. Better software for recording decisions does not improve the decisions.

So we build the measurement layer. We model the signals a firm already generates and mostly discards, so that the state of the business is computed rather than maintained. That includes what happens after a placement, which is where most of the economics are and where the least is measured.
